EFT, the Emotional Freedom Technique in its traditional form is used by therapists with their clients and by individuals to reduce or eliminate all types of negative emotions including anger, fear, grief, trauma, anxiety and stress. It\’s also often used to treat physical and physiological issues that may have an often unidentified, emotional component.

History of Netball in the UK

Netball is said to have originated in UK in 1895 from Madame Osterberg\’s College (now Dartford PE College under Greenwich University) in Dartford, Kent. It came over as a form of basketball from USA. The college has produced many netball players who became renouned in UK. Before that, the first netball in the history of the world was played in 1891 in America (Springfield, Massachusetts), where it was known as ‘Women’s Basketball’. A 30-year-old Canadian immigrant to the USA, James Naismith, was ordered to create a high-spirited indoor game for young men at the School for Christian Workers (later called the YWCA).The visiting American academic team who visited England in 1895 offered to teach the game of netball to the locals. They fixed two waste paper baskets on two opposite walls with the help of nails as the basic arrangement of the game. The balls were thrown into the baskets fixed on the two walls, in the oldest games of netball. Choosing Hiking Boots

If you’ve ever been 5 miles from the trailhead with painful blisters, or even a sprained ankle, you will appreciate how much your hiking enjoyment rests literally on your feet. The selection of the correct hiking boots can be the difference between a great experience and a disaster. The choice of the right pair of boots can add considerably to your comfort and personal safety, especially in rugged or difficult terrain.

Before you start comparing the many brands and styles of hiking boot, consider the type of terrain and your style of hiking. Do you take extended treks through the mountains or just stroll through the local park or greenbelt? Select a boot based on the most difficult terrain you will encounter. Do you carry a heavy pack? The heavier the pack the sturdier boot you will need. Are you an all-weather hiker? Do you need a lightweight breathable fabric or a heaver waterproof material?

Modern hiking boots do not weigh as much as older styles. Lightweight high-tech materials have replaced the metal shanks used in older boots and modern fabrics offer many advantages. A lightweight boot can still offer plenty of support and be a lot easier on the feet over less rugged trails. Many of today’s top quality lightweight hiking boots offer a Gore-Tex® liner that helps keep water out while still allowing your feet to breath. All-leather boots provide more support than the leather and fabric styles and they are easier to waterproof. They lend themselves to rocky terrain but they are heaver and less flexible. In my experience, leather boots will outlast the lighter styles, partly due to the heavier construction but also due to the fact that they have less seams which are always the weak point in any boot.

Have your feet properly measured and wear the type and thickness of sock you will be wearing on the trail when trying on boots. Boots should fit snugly but not too tightly. Remember they will become more comfortable with wear. Make sure they fit and provide support around your ankle and instep. You will need good ankle support, especially when carrying a pack. Golf Stance…And Its Physical Requirements

Golf stance is one of the most ignored terms and issues in the golf swing and yet the golf stance dictates the success of every golf swing you make.

When golfers think of golf stance, they don’t realize how hard it is to maintain over 18 holes (four and a half hours). Just take a look at the position your body is in during your set up. There are many physical issues taking place, even though it is a static position at the start.

Let’s go over the physical requirements of the golf stance right now.

Bend At Hips To Address Golf Ball

To achieve this initial movement takes strength and flexibility in not only the lower back, but the hamstrings and core muscle groups. If these muscle groups are limited, you will have a very difficult time achieving this simple move.

Flex In The Knees

A combination of bending at the hips and knees allows you to get to the ball. The shorter the club, the more the bend at both the hips and knees. If your quadriceps are weak, you will have a very difficult time maintaining the proper knee flex therefore causing you to create in improper golf stance…resulting in mishits and lack of distance.

Ankle Flexion

Take a look at the ankle joint of any golfer. It is definitely bent (flexed) to accommodate the bending of the knees and hips. If your calf muscles are weak/or tight, you will find it very uncomfortable to stay down at the ball. I see so many golfers with tight calf muscles and they never even knew it.

Spine Extension (Erectness)

This is a BIGGY! How many times have you seen the golfer (maybe even you) in his/her golf stance with the dread ‘camels back?’ This is very common among older golfers and is a KILLER in the golf swing. I could (and probably will) write a complete article on this physical limitation. But the bottom line is a rounded (weak) upper spine will dramatically hinder your ability to make a full backswing. Result: very short drives and a lot of embarrassment.

Golf Exercise And Stretch Program For Total Golf Performance

Golf exercise and stretch. This is a combination I use in all of my golf fitness programs both online and with my personal golf clients. It’s the ultimate combination to improve the golfers swing quickly and efficiently.

A fitness program for golfers that does not incorporate a golf exercise and stretch is doing more harm than good. Golfers need that blend of dynamic strength specific to the golf swing and the range of motion to hold it for 18 holes.

So many times I hear a golfer mention stretching only. This is a big mistake! Stretching without strengthening does not equal permanent range of motion improvements. An over-stretched muscle that doesn’t have strength opens up the possibilities for injury.

That is why golf exercise and stretch is the key. For every golf exercise, there is an appropriate stretch. Taking this approach will create a powerful swing with less tension and stress put on the body.

An example of golf exercise and stretch is doing a back hyperextension for strength, and then lying on your back, grabbing your knees and pulling them into your chest to stretch your back. That would be a perfect combination for your lower back.

This is how your entire golf exercise program should be laid out. And notice, it’s never just one or the other. It’s both!

If you ever come across a golf fitness trainer who doesn’t incorporate both…run! That’s not the program for you. Any professional should mention both topics, not just one or the other.

So hopefully you have gained a little knowledge as to a golf exercise and stretch program.

Bet with the streak or not at all

Have you ever been drawn to a roulette table because of the display board? The one that says black has come up 6 times in a row? Ever have the urge to put your money on the table in that situation? If so, what do you do?

\”Bet red, because it\’s due to hit this time!\”

That answer, while it is a very popular one, is absolutely wrong! You should always bet with the streak, or not at all.

Betting red in this situation is wrong for two reasons. The first reason\’s mathematical: no matter how many times a color comes up in roulette, there\’s still (roughly) a 50/50 chance that red or black will come up on the next spin. It doesn\’t matter if black came up 5 times in a row, 500 times in a row or 5 million times in a row. Every spin in roulette is an independent event; what happened before or after the spin doesn\’t change the probability of a certain outcome. Is this a new movie or a title of a book focusing in love on the Internet? Think you’ve got mail, Must love dogs and Napoleon Dynamite, all films geared towards finding love or partners online. Have we really lost the era of romanticism?

While it is undeniable that a large number of people have found its way to online dating, it is certainly not regarded as a last recourse for those who have had a challenging time looking for dates. In fact, online dating is just like putting up a personal ad in a magazine or newspaper, a popular method in the late 80’s and early 90’s although online dating is much faster and more convenient.

What you get with online dating is the same as the personal ads in print, with so much more benefits and options. It’s still a blind chase but at least you get to check on it everyday (more…)

Camping Food That Works for You

Even though winter – with all its snow, wind, and cold – is definitely upon us, it’s never too early to start thinking about camping this spring or summer. And for those outdoor enthusiasts who won’t wait for the snow to melt before setting out this winter, there is no better time than now to review a few useful tips to remember when planning your camp menu.

Consider the duration of your trip. Plan on eating about as much while you’re camping as you eat when you’re at home. If you’re car camping and you have the extra space, it might not hurt to take a little extra food; but if you’re packing it in, every ounce counts, especially on long hikes.
